Good Question! A wildcard tournament is a tournament where you compete as an individual on multiple teams during the tournament. You don’t have to put a team together, and aren’t placed into a defined position. That means all you have to do to play a position is convince your teammates that you would be a good fit for the job. There are no coaches, and simple rules.

Each round of play, you will be assigned new teammates. You have 5 min to work out your rotation, and then play begins.

You will play a minimum of 4 rounds of competition. You will be required to ref a least 1 round of competition (either up ref, scorekeeper, or line judge).

Format is as follows:

• 4 vs. 4
• 45 minute matches
• Games to 21 with no cap.
• Last game of the match will be ended when time runs out. If the game is tied, there will be a single point played to determine the winner.
• Minimum of 5 rounds of play

Format for Jr. is as follows:

• 4 vs. 4
• 30 minute matches
• Games to 25 with a cap of 30.
• Last game of the match will be ended when time runs out. If the game is tied, there will be a single point played to determine the winner.
• Minimum of 5 rounds of play

Because each athlete is playing individually, the winners are determined by wins, losses, and point spread.

• First Team – top four athletes in wins & points
• Second Team – athletes 5-8 in wins & points
• Third Team – athletes 9-12 in wins & points

Delta Athletics puts on invite-only tournaments to allow athletes to compete against athletes of similar levels of play. We work hard to make sure these tournaments are full, and last-minute cancellations cause enormous work to try to find replacements, or to re-seed the tournament. That’s why we have the following Tournament Cancellation Policy: If canceled 7 or more days before the tournament, you will receive a full refund less $4.00 admin fee. If canceled within 7 Days of the tournament, you will receive a 50% credit towards any future Delta Athletics program.
