Summer Coached Training League has been canceled. we hope to return next season!

What is a Coached training league? (Summer is 6 weeks)

A coached training league is an 8-week volleyball program where athletes can join a team with a professional coach and compete against other athletes in their age division. At Delta Athletics, we’re all about giving athletes the chance to play volleyball in a local and accessible setting, all while receiving top-notch coaching. If club or school volleyball isn’t an option, our training leagues are a great way for athletes to keep playing and improving their game. There will be a lower league for ages 10-12 and an upper league for ages 13-17.

Each team will play games once a week on Saturday mornings. Specific dates and game times will be announced at a later date.

Playoffs (summer league is excluded)

Before the end-of-season tournament, teams play round-robin style for the playoffs. Each team will get one more opportunity to play each team in their league. Each team will play every other team in their age group on the same Saturday. For a detailed schedule, please check at a later date.

Tournament

August 2nd

Before the end-of-season tournament, teams will be seeded based on their season record. The tournament will follow a bracket-style format with single elimination. Teams will get their detailed schedule closer to the start of the league.

Parent volunteers

When you sign up, parents have the opportunity to volunteer as an assistant coach. While you won’t be running practices or creating drills, you will help with rotations and lineups, refereeing, scoring, and actively participating in practices and drills. Since being an assistant is a big responsibility, we offer a one-month free trial for Delta Athletics classes for your athlete. We also allow parents who are assistant coaches one athlete carpool request on their team. Spots are limited, so let us know early if you’re interested!

How much does the Coached training league cost?

Lower League (Ages 10-12):

  • Regular (June 21st until evaluations or capacity reached): $195

Upper League (Ages 13-17):

  • Regular (June 21st until evaluations or capacity reached): $225

Note: We find that the 10-12 age group has an effective practice attention span for around 1 hour. Athletes ages 13-17 tend to have a longer effective practice attention span of 1.5 hours – hence the difference in pricing.

What does the cost include?

The total cost of the training league includes a jersey for every athlete, professional coaching, referees for matches and tournament, and end of season awards for the top 3 teams. Athletes must provide their own shorts, shoes, and kneepads.

What happens if I can’t come to evaluations?

If you can’t make the formal evaluations, you can attend any of our classes for an informal evaluation before the training league starts. Just contact us to set it up! Your first class at Delta is free. And if none of the class dates work, don’t worry—your athlete is guaranteed a spot on a team. We have a process for those who miss evaluations.

Professional coaching

Delta Athletics believes that athletes deserve access to multiple high-quality coaches. We find exposure to multiple coaching styles allows athletes to find the coach that works for them and the opportunity to develop in their own way. This is why each week every practice will have a master coach for your training and a head coach for your team. At Delta, we have an open-door policy and believe both parents and athletes should be well informed about their growth and direction in the sport. Delta Athletics coaches are all IMPACT and SafeSport certified.

Age divisions

We have two leagues available for athletes to join. Athletes aged 10-12 will compete in one league, while those aged 13-17 will have their own league. For the 10-12 division, athletes will play with a Volley Lite volleyball and a regulation women’s height net. In the 13-17 league, athletes will compete with a regulation women’s height net and a regulation volleyball.

Boys in the league

Boys ages 10-14 are welcome to sign up for our coached league. However, boys ages 15-17 are encouraged to attend our classes if they are interested in training with Delta Athletics. Boys interested in our Sunday classes can find more information here.
